Ken Taylor

Ken and Bola Taylor invited Christ into their lives at the height of their professional music careers. Bola was a jazz-pop singer, Ken a rising musical director/arranger. Before becoming Christians, both toured Southeast Asian night clubs and concert stages. Ken and Bola have been described as musicianaries as they use extremely creative ministries and relevant strategies in sharing the gospel to the Japanese.

As a modern church planter, Ken is involved in effective evangelistic mission strategies and projects.

Black Gospel music is a phenomenon in Japan. It was popularized by the movie Sister Act. Since then, thousands of gospel choirs have started. Ken leads a growing network of gospel choirs called Hallelujah Gospel Family (HGF) consisting of about 70 choirs with over 1,000 members where 80% of whom are not-yet-Christians. He strategically partners with local churches and intentionally develops relationships. The gospel is shared through rehearsals, regional and combined concerts, and even international tours. Through this creative ministry, a steady number of choir members are becoming Christians and thousands are exposed to the good news through Black Gospel music.

Ken is the field leader for WorldVenture-Japan. We are called Japan Baptist Fellowship (JBF) which consists of missionaries from the USA, Canada, Europe, and Asia. God is calling out 21st century missionaries with passion, gifting, talents, expertise, and experience for effective missions in Japan. JBF validates, equips, and unleash missionaries in 3 teams: Church Multiplication Team; Innovative Ministries Team; Support Ministries Team.
