Stay2Serve 2024

Who:
All SecondStory Middle School Students and Parents.

What:
Stay2Serve is the Arcade Church Middle School local mission trip. It is three days of local service and local outreach. We serve together in the mornings in our community at places like the Sacramento Food Bank, and the Union Gospel Mission, or at homes of the elderly from Arcade. In the afternoon, the SecondStory Students lead a Day Camp for the kids from our neighborhood, where they help all to Hear, See, and Follow Jesus.

When:
March 25-27; Monday morning through Wednesday evening.
To prepare, we spend four Sunday afternoons training - March 3, 10, 17, 21 - 11:30-2pm

Why:
Our city is in the top few “most diverse” cities in the nation. For us, as Gospel witnesses, that means that the global mission field has moved into our city, and that is incredibly exciting. We have Stay2Serve so that we can Stay here in our own community, where we have relational ties, to the local church, to the local humanitarian resources, and where we most importantly have the parents of our students.

After years of going away on mission trips with students, seeing students share the gospel in places like San Francisco, Arizona, and Mexico, one of the biggest impacts that I saw was parents serving alongside or in front of their children. One of the goals of Stay2Serve is to remove barriers so that more parents can participate. In 1 Corinthians 11:1 Paul says “Follow me as I follow the example of Christ.” Stay2Serve gives parents the opportunity to live that out for the Middle School Students at Arcade Church.

Where:
Arcade Church is our home base. In the mornings Mon-Wed we will be leaving campus to serve in Sacramento. In the afternoon the Day Camp will be held at Arcade. In the evening the guys will stay the night at the church and the ladies will stay the night at LaDona Hein's house in Carmichael.

How:
Parents, please sign up on the Parent Volunteer form. Our hope is that you are able to serve for a couple of “shifts” during the event so that as many parents as possible are able to be part of helping our students Hear, See, and Follow Jesus through you.
